ABOUT

I am an passionate educator with over 14 years experience working in a variety of capacities within Hamilton Wentworth District School Board including building capacity within adult learning models through my pervious system roles.

Through my experiences ranging from Kindergarten, Section 23 Primary/Junior Class, Grade 1, instructional coach and program consultant, student learning, achievement and well-being has been a corner stone of my teaching philosophy. My pervious experience as a system program consultant supported multiple system initiatives encompassing literacy and family of schools consultation. Through my role I created, presented and facilitated a wide range of professional development sessions that highlighted best practices in both Math & Literacy, UDI , as well as utilizing technology to enhance learning. As a program consultant I consistently utilized a co-teaching and coaching model when supporting and collaborating on CLI process with educators. Embedding student work samples and the triangulation of data as the driving force in our collective work was a critical component in identifying & determining next steps that support a progression of learning for both the students and educators.

In my past portfolio's I supported the strategic priorities of all students reading by the end of grade 1, which afforded me the opportunity to delve deep into reading research, beginning my Science of Reading journey and further fuelling my desire to deepen my science of reading learning. Supporting staff and students as they change future outcomes for reading is soul fulfilling work that has become an extension of my career.
